According to a press release from the school, offensive line coach Tom Brattan will be retained by Randy Edsall. This is great news, and it helps to counter-balance the Crowton hire.
Brattan has had great success with this offensive line unit, and they had their best season in recent memory as a group this past year. There’s a lot of young talent on the line, headlined by left tackle Max Garcia, and there are a bunch of kids coming in as well. He has the reputation of being a great teacher, and is a very good recruiter in Southern Virginia and Georgia. Overall, a very wise choice by Edsall’s staff.
Brattan has been Maryland’s offensive line coach for ten seasons, joining the staff in 2010. In those ten years, the Terps have had seven All-ACC offensive linemen.
He has previously coached at Stanford, Northwestern, and William & Mary, along with a bevy of high schools in Delaware and Virginia. He played center at Delaware in 1971.
