According to Scout.com (subscription required), Maryland is in the final three of mega-prospect Travis Hughes, brother of current Terp Trenton Hughes. I can’t read the article, as I don’t have a subscription to Scout, but this is tentatively good news. I don’t know who the other schools in the top three are, but it’s probably between Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. My guess is the other two are North Carolina and Virginia Tech, but that’s just me guessing from reading past stories on Hughes. If that’s the case, I think Maryland is a distant third to those two, but anything can happen, especially with the family connection.

Hughes is ranked as a four-star inside linebacker by Rivals and is listed as the ninth best at his position in the country, and the fourth best prospect in the state. Hughes is ranked as a five-star middle linebacker by Scout and is listed as the fifth best at his position in the country.
