Johnny O'Bryant Reportedly Headed to LSU

It’s been reported that Johnny O’Bryant, a five-star power forward from Mississippi, will be going to LSU. So where do the Terps go from here?

Adjehi Baru (who we talked about here) becomes a much bigger target, as do Antwan Space, Desmond Hubert, and Greg Lewis. The Terps really want (and need) a big man in the 2011 class, so look for coach Williams and co. to really push hard for these guys. Space has been reported to be an Arkansas lean for some time, so that’s kind of a stretch. Maryland is going against a boatload of ACC schools as well as Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and Villanova for Hubert, and the competition for Greg Lewis includes Ohio State, Villanova, and Indiana.

The question of Nick Faust now comes back into play. While a lot of experts have predicted the shooting guard will commit to Maryland, his lack of a commitment after visiting the campus is worrisome to say the least. Faust talked about winning championships with O’Bryant and Sterling Gibbs to Scout.com recently, and it’s possible that a lack of O’Bryant at Maryland might drive him away. Maryland still seems to be the favorite, however, and we’ll just have to play wait-and-see with his decision.

Also, O’Bryant isn’t scheduled to announce until next week – these are still just rumors. We’ll keep you updated if anything happens.
