Former Terp and current New York Red Bull Seth Stammler has announced he will retire after the 2010 MLS season.
Drafted out of Maryland in 2004, Stammler had eight goals and eleven assists in his four years as a Terp, and was a three-year captain at center back after playing forward his freshman year. In the MLS, he has mostly played at midfield. As a senior at Maryland, he was a third team All-American selection and was also named to the All-ACC First Team. With the Red Bulls, he has six goals and 13 assists in 142 regular season matches.
